The Chinese Medicine Board of Australia addressed the professions’ concerns about dry-needling in a presentation at the annual Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association (AACMA) Conference last year.
Dr David Graham Community member of the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia (the Board) and Executive Officer Debra Gillick spoke about the issues around dry-needling and clarified the roles of the Board, the professional associations and the profession in responding to the professions’ concerns. Dry needling was identified as a main concern of the profession in social research undertaken by Ahpra and the Board. Additionally, the Board responds to a high volume of queries about dry needling when undertaking stakeholder forums. Board Chair Distinguished Professor Charlie Xue said, ‘The Board encourage all registered practitioners who are concerned about dry-needling to view the video to ensure they are fully informed about the issues and the actions that different stakeholders can and cannot take.’ For more information • For media enquiries: (03) 8708 9200. • Lodge an online enquiry form. • For registration enquiries: 1300 419 495 (within Australia) +61 03 9275 9009 (overseas callers).
